Valorant has a diverse roster of Agents, each with unique abilities to master. However, players are only awarded 5 Agents at the start of the game and are required to unlock the rest if they want to try them out. As such, you might think: how can you unlock all Agents in Valorant? Well, dive in as we dissect the methods!
4 Ways To Unlock Agents In Valorant
You can unlock Agents in Valorant by completing the Free Welcome Contract, purchasing them via Kingdom Credits or Valorant Points or finishing the Agent Recruitment event. While the Free Welcome Contract will net you two Agents, you’ll need to eventually buy the rest of the Agents using Valorant’s in-game currencies.
Completing The Free Welcome Contract
If you’re new to Valorant, you’ll be tasked with completing the Free Welcome Contract right after you’re done with the game’s tutorial. The contract has 10 tiers, with a choice to unlock an Agent for free at tiers 5 and 10. All you need to do is earn XP to climb the tiers, which can easily be done by playing matches and completing the Daily and Weekly missions. Here’s a breakdown of the XP required for each tier, along with the rewards you’ll get:
Tier | Name | Category | XP Required |
1 | V Protocol | Player Card | 1,500 |
2 | GLHF | Spray | 3,000 |
3 | New Recruit | Player Card | 4,500 |
4 | Recruit | Player Title | 6,000 |
5 | Permanently Unlock And Agent | Agents | 7,000 |
6 | Valorant Coin | Gunbuddy | 8,000 |
7 | 40 Radianite Points | Radianite Points | 9,000 |
8 | Code Red | Player Card | 10,000 |
9 | V For Valorant | Spray | 11,000 |
10 | Permanently Unlock And Agent | Agents | 12,000 |
So, accumulating a total of 72,000 XP will grab you ahold of two Agents in the game. Even though the XP number seems high, it’s pretty doable in under a week if you’re able to complete all Daily and Weekly challenges.
Purchasing Agents With Kingdom Credits
If you’re already done with the Free Welcome Contract, then you can utilize your Kingdom Credits (Valorant’s latest in-client currency) to purchase Agents. Each Agent costs 8,000 Kingdom Credits, which can be obtained by playing any game mode, completing Daily Rewards, and wrapping up certain Agent tiers.
Daily Rewards will get you 150 Kingdom Credits for each Checkpoint completed, ending at a total of 600 Credits for the four daily Checkpoints. Alternatively, certain Agent tier 5’s will reward you with 2,000 Kingdom Credits as well.
Note: Daily Missions now stack up in Valorant. So, if you missed a day’s worth of Kingdom Credits, don’t worry; you’ll be able to get the XP as long as the week hasn’t ended.
If you’re looking to grind via playing games, however, then here’s a breakdown of the amount of credits each game mode will net you:
Game Mode | Per Round Won | Per Round Played | Match Played |
Unrated, Competitive, Swift Play, Premier | 4 | – | – |
Spike Rush, Team Death Match | – | 20 | |
Escalation, Deathmatch | 50 |
So, just to do a bit of math, if you play an Unrated match and win 13 – 8, you’ll end up earning 470 Kingdom Credits!
Purchasing Agents With Valorant Points
If the grind life isn’t for you, then you can skip everything and spend some dough to get your favourite Valorant Agents. Each Valorant Agent costs 1,000 Valorant Points, Valorant’s in-game currency, which can be purchased via the in-game store or through gift cards. You should note, however, that gift cards are region-specific, so be careful which region’s gift card you purchase.
Agent Recruitment Event
Whenever a new Agent is released, an Agent Recruitment Event is automatically started in Valorant. You’ll have about 28 days to accumulate 200,000 XP in the game, after which you’ll be rewarded with the recently released Agent. If you’re unable to earn the required XP before the event ends, then you’ll have to resort to the aforementioned methods of purchasing the Agent via Kingdom Credits or VP.
