Tekken 8 Post-Credits Scene Explained
The climactic battle between Jin Kazama and his father, Kazuya Mishima sees a lot of mayhem and destruction. Amidst this chaos, Reina Mishima finds herself at the receiving end of True Devil Kazuya’s laser beam attack, which takes her out of action for the rest of the battle.
In the aftermath of the battle, we see Reina lying unconscious among numerous fallen combatants. As the camera zooms in on her face, she opens her eyes. Her eyes are red in color, revealing the presence of the Devil Gene within her.
When we finally get to the post-credits scene, we see Reina rising up from the rubble and making a vow to her father, Heihachi Mishima. She then transforms into her devil form, finally waking up her hereditary power.
What Is The Devil Gene In Tekken 8?
The Devil Gene is a unique genetic trait found in the Hachijo bloodline and has served as a pivotal element in the Tekken series. And while it definitely grants the holder supernatural powers like flying or shooting lasers out of their foreheads, it also messes with their mind and well, makes them act demonically.
As of now, only four people (all belonging to the Mishima family) are known to have held this gene: Kazuya Mishima, Jin Kazama, Kazumi Mishima, and now Reina Mishima. When the gene kicks in, they all transform into their devil form, but they don’t have much control over it.
While the origins of this mysterious gene are shrouded in mystery, we do know that it’s connected to the ancient demonic entity Azazel. In The Dark Awakens, Kazuya absorbs Azazel’s power to amplify his Devil Gene and turn into True Devil Kazuya.
Who Is Reina Mishima In Tekken 8?
When first introduced, all we know about Reina is that she’s a student at Mishima Polytechnical School who’s participating in The King of Iron Fist Tournament. Well-versed in the Mishima style of fighting, she surprises both Jin and Kazuya in her respective battles with them.
While her true identity was later revealed, there’s a lot of speculation about who she really is. She seems to know both Jin and Kazuya, but they don’t seem to have any memory of her. This has led to theories that she might be Heihachi Mishima’s illegitimate daughter.
This wouldn’t be unprecedented, as Lars Alexandersson is a known example of Heihachi’s unrecognized offspring. However, many believe that she is not only Heihachi’s biological daughter but also the only offspring that he actually cares about.
Whatever the case, we’re mostly shooting in the dark due to the lack of any important information on this long-lost Mishima family member. We’ll have to wait for future installments in the Tekken series to finally unravel Reina’s story.
