Gaming is a 4-Star Claymore-wielding Pyro character who debuted as a playable character in Genshin Impact Version 4.4. Gaming is a fun character to play, as he’s the only other Main DPS except Xiao, who uses Plunging Attacks for most of his DPS.
This guide will cover his talents, constellations, weapons, best artifact sets, and the team compositions that showcase his potential.
Gaming Ascension Material
Total cost of Upgrading Gaming to Ascension 6 is as follows:
Morax420,000 | Agindus Agate Silver x1 | Agindus Agate Fragment x9 | Agindus Agate Chunk x9 | Agindus Agate Gemstone x6 |
Emperor’s Resolution x46 | Starconchx168 | Slime Condensate x18 | Slime Secretions x30 | Slime Concentrate x36 |
Gaming Talents
To make the most out of Gaming, you need to know about his talents and which one takes priority when building him the right way. As such, Gaming’s talents are given below:
Stellar Rend
Stellar Rend includes his Normal Attack, Charged Attack, and Plunging Attack.
Normal Attack
Gaming performs 4 consecutive attacks, dealing Physical DMG to the opponents.
Charged Attack
Consuming stamina, Gaming performs a series of spinning attacks, dealing damage to nearby enemies.
Plunging Attack
While midair, Gaming summons his Claymore and smashes it into the ground, dealing AoE Physical damage.
Bestial Ascent
Talent Type: Elemental Skill
Cooldown Duration: 6 seconds
Gaming jumps forward, leaping high into the air after touching an opponent or any other surface. While in midair, he can unleash a powerful Plunging Attack, which deals with Pyro DMG. Upon landing, he’ll consume 15% of his Max HP, where it cannot drop below 10%.
Gaming’s Elemental Skill is a huge contribution to his DPS, and the HP depletion is covered by a healer and his Ascension 1 Passive, which restores a portion of the drained health. The DMG dealt by his Elemental Skill is considered Plunge DMG and requires upgrading the ‘Stellar Rend’ talent to improve.
Suanni’s Gilded Dance
Talent Type: Elemental Burst
Cooldown Duration: 15 seconds
Energy Cost: 60
Entering Wushou Stance for 12s, Gaming recovers 30% HP and summons his companion, Suanni Man Chai, to deal AoE Pyro DMG. After the initial strike, Man Chai will recoil and fall nearby before returning to Gaming. Linking up, it resets the Cooldown of his Skill, allowing Gaming to use it multiple times during his Burst. The Wushou state will be canceled if Gaming is switched out or his HP is reduced to less than 50%.
Gaming’s Elemental Burst allows him to use his Elemental Skill multiple times during Wushou Stance. This Plunging playstyle makes his Burst similar to Xiao’s, only that Xiao uses his spear to smash the ground. The 15% HP loss at each instance of his skill can be covered by C1 Gaming, which recovers 15% HP whenever he uses his skill.
Dance of Amity
When Gaming’s Elemental Skill hits an opponent, it replenishes 1.5% of his Max HP every 0.2s for 0.8s, a total of which contributes to 6% of his HP.
Unlocked at Ascension 1, this passive ability allows Gaming to regain some of his lost HP from his skill and even helps him activate certain weapons and artifact effects that initiate only when the character’s HP fluctuates.
Air of Prosperity
Having less than 50% HP, Gaming will receive 20% Incoming Healing Bonus. On the other hand, if it’s more than 50%, Gaming’s Elemental Skill will deal 20% more DMG.
Unlocked at Ascension 4, this passive gives Gaming two buffs depending on his HP. It helps him with maintaining his HP when it’s low and gives him DMG boost when it’s high,
The Striding Beast
Gaming’s utility passive gives his party a 10% Movement Speed Buff during the day, from 6 AM to 6 PM. This effect is not stackable, nor does it take effect in domains.
Talent Materials
Leveling any one of Gaming’s Talents from 1 to 10 requires the following materials:
Morax1,652,500 | Slime Condensate x6 | Slime Secretions x22 | Slime Concentrate x31 | Lightless Mass x6 |
Teachings of Prosperity x3 | Guide toProsperity x21 | Philosophies of Prosperity x38 | Crown ofInsight x1 |
Gaming Talent Priority
Although the Plunging Attack during his Skill is considered Plunging DMG, most of it scales off its Skill, making it the most important talent among the three. Gaming’s Burst allows him to use his Skill multiple times, also giving it a little Buff. In the end, his Normal Attack doesn’t make much contribution, but it is still important as there’s a little window for using Normal Attacks during his Burst. Overall, the main talent priority goes as follows.
On-field Main DPS build
Skill > Burst > Normal Attack*
*Prioritize Normal Attack if using Xianyun and C6 Bennett Team. In this team comp, Gaming will be using Xianyun’s Burst and Bennett’s Pyro infusion in his Burst to use Pyro-infused plunging Attacks alternatively with his own Plunging Attacks during his own Burst.
Gaming Constellations
Gaming’s constellations, especially C6, are vital for his growth as a DPS. In spite of that, you shouldn’t feel compelled to unlock his higher constellations. Gaming’s a great DPS, even at C0. However, to help you make the decisions yourself, here is some important information about Gaming’s constellations:
C1: Bringer of Blessing
During Gaming’s Burst, whenever his companion, Man Chai, meets with Gaming, it heals 15% of his HP.
Vital for his health, with C1, Gaming wouldn’t need to worry about his HP depletion from his Skill. Although it loses much of its value if there’s a healer in the party.
C2: Plum Blossoms Underfoot
When the Healing Gaming receives starts to overflow, his ATK will be increased by 20% for 5s.
Gaming’s C2 is a prominent addition to his kit as it can easily be activated with a healer in the team, such as Kokomi.
C3: Awakening Spirit
Gaming’s C3 constellation increases his Skill level by 3, the maximum level being 15.
As Gaming’s Elemental Skill is the main source of his DMG, C3 Gaming has his DMG boosted drastically.
C4: Soar Across Mountains
When Gaming’s Elemental Skill hits an opponent, it replenishes 2 energy for him. This effect can be triggered once every 0.2s.
Although 2 Energy is a smaller amount, Gaming’s C4 can be useful during his Burst, where he can restore his energy on every plunge. It decreases his Energy needs drastically, making it easier to build him as the only Pyro character in a party.
C5: Evil-Daunting Roar
Gaming’s C5 constellation increases his Burst level by 3, the Maximum level being 15.
Similar to C4, it really isn’t recommended to aim for C4 Gaming unless you’re aiming for C6. Though his Burst is important to his kit, it really isn’t recommended to pull exclusively for a C5 Gaming.
C6: To Tame All Beasts
During Gaming’s Plunging Attack, his CRIT Rate is increased by 20%, and CRIT DMG is increased by 40% at the moment of impact. Furthermore, his attack radius increased from 4 meters to 6 meters.
C6 provides Gaming with a huge CRIT Buff, which allows him to land those brutal hits on his enemies more often and with more intensity during his Burst. His attack radius is also increased, which is great for the party if you don’t have a crowd-control character. Having such a C6 passive makes it worth the cost it takes to upgrade him.
Best Weapons For Gaming
Choosing a suitable weapon for any character is a challenging task, even for Gaming. With all the variety there is in Claymores, you have to think really hard about the weapon best suited to your needs. To help you in that regard, here are a bunch of Claymores Gaming can make use of efficiently.
Serpent Spine (510 ATK • 27.6% CRIT Rate)
Wavesplitter: For 4s, after a character is switched, their DMG is increased by 6% / 7% / 8% / 9% / 10% and takes 3% / 2.7% / 2.4% / 2.2% / 2% more DMG. This effect can stack up to 5 times and doesn’t rest when the character is off-field. However, its stack is reduced by one when they take DMG.
Serpent Spine can be considered Gaming’s Best-in-Slot as it can increase his DMG up to 50% at 5 full stacks on a higher refinement level. On the other hand, taking DMG will reduce the stacks, making it a high-risk, high-return weapon. Using a Shield character can help you maintain these stacks.
Beacon Of The Reed Sea (608 ATK • 33.1% CRIT Rate)
Desert Watch: After the character’s Elemental Skill hits an opponent or the character takes DMG their ATK will be increased by 20% / 25% / 30% / 35% / 40% for 8s. These 2 effects can be triggered even when the character is off-field. Additionally, when not protected by a shield, the character’s Max HP will be increased by 32% / 40% / 48% / 56% / 64%.
Beacon of the Reed Sea provides Gaming with a good Base ATK, a great secondary CRIT Rate, and a great passive, increasing his Max HP, and giving him DMG Buff whenever he takes DMG or gives DMG, which can easily be activated due to his Skill.
Verdict (674 ATK • 22.1% CRIT Rate)
Many Oaths of Dawn and Dusk: Increases ATK by 20% / 25% / 30% / 35% / 40%. Moreover, any character in the party picking up an Elemental Shard will gain a Seal, which increases Skill DMG by 18% / 22.5% / 27% / 31.5% / 36%. The effect lasts for 15s and can be stacked up to 2 times. However, using the Skill will fade the effects.
Though Verdict also boosts Gaming’s CRIT Rate and has a high Base ATK, its passive is pretty much useless for him except for the Bonus ATK%. Similar to Verdict, Redhorn Stonethresher works on him in a similar way, giving him great Buffs, while the passive is almost useless.
Rainslasher (510 ATK • 165 Elemental Mastery)
Bane of Storm and Tide: DMG against opponents affected by Hydro or Electro is increased by 20% / 24% / 28% / 32% / 36%.
Having Rainslasher on Gaming isn’t a bad option. In fact, it can actually compete with 5-star weapons when used on his Vaporize Teams. Having high Elemental Mastery with a niche passive is worth considering when you don’t have the above options or you just don’t want to use Tidal Shadow, which is coming next on the list.
Tidal Shadow (510 ATK • 41.3% ATK)
White Cruising Wave: ATK is increased by 24% / 30% / 36% / 42% / 48% for 8s whenever the wielder is healed, and this effect is activated even when the character is off-field.
Being a craftable claymore and a great F2P option for Gaming, Tidal Shadow has a decent ATK Buff, a great passive that can be activated on Gaming almost all the time due to his Skill, and overall a great weapon as it is a craftable option, not forcing you to use your Primogems on a weapon.
Best Artifacts For Gaming
Gaming can use a variety of artifact sets. However, these are the best artifacts she can use to maximize her kit:
Marechaussee Hunter (4-Piece)
2-Piece Bonus: Normal and Charged Attack DMG is increased by 15%.
4-Piece Bonus: When the wielder’s HP increases or decreases, their CRIT Rate is increased by 12% for 5s. This effect can be stacked a maximum of 3 times.
Gaming consumes some of his HP when using his Skill and heals right after that with his Ascension passive. This Artifact set is his Best-in-Slot due to the fact that he can constantly do this, activating the 4-piece bonus easily. The maximum CRIT Rate that can be stacked this way is 36%.
Crimson Witch of Flames (4-Piece)
2-Piece Bonus: Pyro DMG Bonus +15%.
4-Piece Bonus: Increases Overloaded and Burning and Burgeon DMG by 40%. Increases Vaporize and Melt DMG by 15%. Using Elemental Skill increases the 2-Piece Set Bonus by 50% of its starting value for 10s. Max 3 stacks.
Crimson set can compete with Gaming’s Best-in-Slot in niche situations such as Vaporize and Melt Team Comps. He can easily maximize the three stacks because Gaming can use his Skill multiple times per rotation.
Gilded Dreams (4-Piece)
2-Piece Bonus: Elemental Mastery +80.
4-Piece Bonus: Within 8s of triggering an Elemental Reaction, the character equipping this will obtain buffs based on the Elemental Type of the other party members. ATK is increased by 14% for each party member whose Elemental Type is the same as the equipping character, and Elemental Mastery is increased by 50 for every party member with a different Elemental Type. Each of the aforementioned buffs will count up to 3 characters. This effect can be triggered once every 8s. The character who equips this can still trigger its effects when not on the field.
Putting aside the lengthy explanation given above, Gilded Dreams 4-piece effect can be used as an alternative in Vaporize and Melt Team Comps, performing slightly worse than the two given above. Overall, it’s a good set, providing different Buffs to the wielding character.
Vermillion Hereafter (4-piece)
2-Piece Bonus: ATK is increased by 18%.
4-Piece Bonus: After using an Elemental Burst. This character will gain the Nascent Light effect, increasing their ATK by 8% for 16s. When the character’s HP decreases, their ATK will further increase by 10%. This increase can occur this way a maximum of 4 times. This effect can be triggered once every 0.8s. Nascent Light will be dispelled when the character leaves the field. If an Elemental Burst is used again during the duration of Nascent Light, the original Nascent Light will be dispelled.
Vermillion is a good set on Gaming as he can easily max out its stats due to his Skill during Elemental Burst. Vermillion Hereafter provides a huge ATK Buff to Gaming, which can be a great help when building his other stats.
Artifact Stats Priority
Gaming requires a good amount of Energy stats if you want to play him as a DPS bursting every rotation. If he’s the sole Pyro unit in the team, Gaming requires a high ER of 180% if he’s not at C4. With another Pyro unit in the team, like Bennett, Gaming requires almost 150% ER. However, if you’re playing a Mono Pyro Team Comp, Gaming requires even less ER. You have to build Gaming’s ER before focusing on any other stat. Generally, this is the roadmap you have to follow to build him right:
Sands:
Main Stat: Energy Recharge / Elemental Mastery (For Vaporize Teams) / ATK%
Goblet:
Main Stat: Pyro DMG Bonus
Circlet:
Main Stat: CRIT DMG / CRIT Rate
Substats:
Energy Recharge > CRIT Rate CRIT DMG > Elemental Mastery > ATK%
Best Teams For Gaming
Gaming will only show his potential as a Main DPS in a Team. His Team’s DMG output revolves around his Plunging Skill during his Burst. Gaming forms great Team comps like Mono Pyro, Vaporize and Melt Team Comp. Some of his team comps are given below:
Gaming Vaporize Team Comp
Gaming | Flexible Unit | Bennett | Hydro Unit |
Gaming Vaporize is his best team comp, which requires Gaming, any good Hydro unit for Hydro Application, a Buffer, and a Bennett or other healer. With Gaming as the Main DPS,
Party Members And Their Roles
- Gaming is the Main DPS, activating Vaporize with the Hydro Unit, dealing most of the Team’s DMG with his Plunging Attack.
- Flexible Unit can be any other Buffing unit except Dendro or Cryo because it will cause burning / Burgeon or melting / freezing, respectively. Having Xianyun as the Buffer will give a huge advantage to the team, as during Gaming’s Burst, he can use Xianyun’s Burst to plunge alternatively with his own Burst Plunges. You can also use another Anemo Unit with a Viridescent Venerer set to shred the resistance of the opponents. Or you can also use another Hydro Unit for better Hydro application.
- Bennett is the Healer and Buffer, and at C6, combined with Xianyun, they can enable Gaming’s normal Plunging Attacks as Pyro-infused.
- Hydro Unit is a great support for Gaming with its Hydro application to enable Vaporize. Yelan, Xingqiu, Furina, and Kokomi can easily pull this off.
Gaming Melt Team Comp
Gaming | Flexible Unit | Cryo/Anemo Unit | Cryo Unit |
A Melt Team comp is very flexible as you only really need a Pyro and Cryo character for enabling it, making it more fun to try out different characters and checking their synergy with Gaming.
Party Members And Their Roles
- Gaming is the main DPS, activating Melt with the Cryo Unit and dealing most of the team’s DMG with his plunging attack.
- Flexible Unit can be any other Buffing unit except Dendro or Hydro because it will cause Burning / Burgeon or Vaporize, respectively. Or you can also use another Hydro Unit for better application. Or, you can use a shield like Zhongli.
- Cryo/Anemo Unit can be used either to apply Cryo better or to apply different Buffs to the team.
- Cryo Unit is a great support for Gaming with its Cryo application to enable Vaporize. C6 Kaeya, Rosaria, Shenhe, and Layla can easily pull this off.
Gaming Mono Pyro Team Comp
Gaming | Xiangling | Bennett | Anemo Unit |
Mono Pyro Team Comp for Gaming is very similar to Diluc’s Mono Pyro. A Main DPS Gaming, Sub-DPS Xiangling, a Healer Bennett and an Anemo unit with 4-piece Viridescent Venerer to enable Swirl reaction and shredding opponents’ elemental resistance. Moreover, in a Mono Pyro Team, Gaming requires way less Energy Recharge than he would normally need.
Party Members And Their Roles
- Gaming is the main DPS, activating Vaporize with the Hydro Unit and dealing most of the team’s DMG with his plunging attack.
- Xiangling is a great Pyro unit with her Pyro application and off-field Pyro DMG. Also, decreasing Pyro resistance is a great help for Gaming.
- Bennett is the Healer and Buffer, and at C6, combined with Xianyun, they can enable Gaming’s normal Plunging Attacks as Pyro-infused.
- Anemo unit with a Viridescent Venerer can decrease the opponents’ Elemental Resistance. Kazuha can apply crowd control along with it, while Xianyun can enable Pyro Punges with C6 Bennett, and alternatively, Sucrose can be used to apply Crowd control as well.
