Persona 5 Tactica is still fresh off the release and many players, including us, have already clocked in some serious game time, with many nearing the ending of the game. Now, if you’re a long-time Persona fan, you must be wondering if Persona 5 Tactica features multiple endings like most of the previous iterations in the series. After all, Persona 5 had roughly eight different endings. So, without further ado, let’s find out how many endings Persona 5 Tactica has.
Does Persona 5 Tactica Have Multiple Endings?
Unlike some of the previous games in the Persona series, Persona 5 Tactica features only one ending. This is because the game follows a more linear narrative structure, much like Persona 5 Strikers.
However, the absence of multiple endings definitely doesn’t detract from the enjoyment of the game. The story setup of the game is very reminiscent of the Persona Q games, but with the narrative solely centered around the Phantom Thieves. Therefore, it makes sense to have a clear and definitive conclusion to the story which reinforces the game’s core themes.
And while the ending may seem to be very straightforward, believe us when we say that it isn’t only very well written, but emotional as well. Here’s a quick synopsis of the game’s ending.
Persona 5 Tactica Ending Explained
At the conclusion of Kingdom 3, Lavenza reveals that Samael (the final boss) is a manifestation that has taken form within Toshiro. This entity constructed three Kingdoms from Toshiro’s memories, each ruled by figures from his real life who oppress him, to dissuade him from opposing his father and instigating widespread social reform.
In the climactic showdown, Samael pulls Toshiro into the metaverse of his own cognition. The battle ends after all the Phantom Thieves band together to defeat him, with Erina and Joker delivering the coup de grâce.
Therefore, Samael is a manifestation of a subconscious instinct present in all humans. This instinct stems from the fear of experiencing pain and seeks to minimize suffering at all costs.
Ernesto is the Persona of Toshiro Kasukabe, a new character in the game who is a young Diet member campaigning for the position of Japan’s next prime minister. During the climax, after Toshiro’s connection to Erina is revealed, Toshiro is compelled by his darker self to purge Erina from his cognition. This pressure triggers the awakening of Toshiro’s Persona, which merges with Erina to form Ernesto.
So, much like Ernesto “Che” Guevara, after whom this Persona has been named, it embodies Toshiro’s spirit of rebellion.
After defeating the boss, Toshiro and the Phantom Thieves find themselves back in their own reality. Toshiro, forfeiting his position as a Diet politician and fully aware that he might be held accountable for his own misdeeds, takes the bold step of accusing both Marie and Yoshiki of corruption.
His journey eventually leads him to Eri Natsuhara, whose encounter with Toshiro marks a significant point in the story as both of them start a new chapter in their lives.
Therefore, the ending underscores the game’s core themes of justice, personal sacrifice, and the power of conviction. It highlights Toshiro’s evolution from a captive within a constructed reality to a real-world champion of justice, ready to confront the repercussions of his past actions for the greater good.
